At Penny Lane Centers, we are proud to celebrate team members whose dedication, growth, and leadership help strengthen our mission and inspire those around them. This month, we are honored to recognize the promotion of Vickie Reti, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), whose 21-year journey with Penny Lane is a powerful example of commitment, perseverance, and professional growth. Vickie began her career with Penny Lane Centers at the Antelope Valley Clinic as a registered intern, working toward her professional licensure through the Board of Behavioral Sciences. With the support of Penny Lane’s educational reimbursement program and a passion for lifelong learning, she continued to pursue opportunities that expanded her knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities.
Throughout her tenure, Vickie has held several positions within the agency, steadily advancing her career while making a meaningful impact on youth, families, and fellow clinicians. Most recently serving as a Clinical Supervisor, she has been instrumental in guiding, mentoring, and supporting staff as they develop their own professional paths. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vickie is also a wife, mother, grandmother of two, quilter, hiker, and museum enthusiast whose compassion and resilience shine through in every aspect of her life. As she steps into her new role as Clinical Manager, we are excited to celebrate her well-earned promotion and the lasting contributions she continues to make to the Penny Lane family.
Before joining Penny Lane, I worked for many years as a Legal Secretary while completing my education. After earning my Marriage and Family Therapy degree, I worked briefly for another community mental health agency in Antelope Valley.
My supervisor left that agency and came to Penny Lane. She encouraged me to apply, and I’ve been with the Antelope Valley Clinic ever since. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.
For me, it’s the people. The longevity of the staff. So many people have been here for years, and that creates a true sense of family. We build real relationships with our coworkers, and that connection makes the work even more meaningful.
Vickie began her Penny Lane journey as an Associate MFT—back when associates were referred to as interns—working as both a School-Based and Outpatient Therapist. After becoming licensed in 2007, she was offered the opportunity to train as a Functional Family Therapy Extern, giving her the chance to step into her first leadership role.
In 2009, she was promoted to Clinical Supervisor, a position she held for many years. While she explored other opportunities throughout her career, she found herself continually drawn back to supervision because of her passion for helping therapists develop their skills and confidence.
"This new promotion allows me to continue doing what I love while also taking on new projects and responsibilities.”
I utilized Penny Lane’s Educational Reimbursement benefit to help cover tuition costs while earning her Master’s in Public Administration. That program gave me valuable understanding of how government systems operate, which has been incredibly helpful in my work.
It’s still very new—only a couple of weeks in—so I’m still discovering what the challenges will be.
Many people may be surprised to learn that Vickie enjoys quilting, solving crossword puzzles—especially the New York Times Sunday crossword—and visiting museums. Others may not know that she originally built her career in the legal field before becoming a therapist.
When my children were young, I was navigating working full time, going to college, and being a single mom. This required patience and resilience. I remarried five years later and started a new life with my husband Steve. We negotiated being a blended family, which brought its own challenges and joys. Those experiences strengthened me and shaped who I am today. We have been married now 27 years and are going strong.
Be compassionate, patient, and kind. Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. What you do matters.
The flexibility and the opportunity for growth. Penny Lane truly supports staff in developing their skills and exploring new roles.
“I am grateful for my family, for the people who have supported me throughout my journey, and for the opportunity to continue growing in a place that feels like home.”
Vickie’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, lifelong learning, and staying connected to what matters most. From balancing work, school, and single parenthood to becoming a licensed therapist, supervisor, and now Clinical Manager, her journey reflects the resilience, compassion, and dedication she encourages in others every day. Throughout her 21 years at Penny Lane Centers, Vickie has remained committed to supporting youth, families, and fellow clinicians while continuing to grow both personally and professionally. Her promotion is a well-deserved recognition of the leadership, expertise, and heart she brings to our organization. We congratulate Vickie on this exciting new chapter and look forward to seeing the continued impact she will make as she helps guide Penny Lane’s mission into the future.
Congratulations Vickie!
