Throughout February, Penny Lane Centers celebrated Heart Health Awareness Month with a series of engaging and energizing wellness events across our Family Resource Centers. From interactive trivia games and healthy snacks to creative activities and exciting raffles, each location found its own unique way to bring staff together around the importance of caring for our hearts—both physically and emotionally.
These events were more than just a celebration of heart health; they were a reminder of the power of community. Staff members took time out of their busy days to connect with colleagues, learn new ways to prioritize wellness, and enjoy moments of laughter and creativity. Across all four offices, the enthusiasm and participation highlighted how meaningful it is when we pause to care for ourselves and each other.

The North Hollywood office brought energy and excitement to Heart Health Month with an interactive event organized by the Well-Being Committee. February is nationally recognized as Heart Health Awareness Month, and the committee wanted to create an event that would both educate and inspire staff to think about their health in a fun and engaging way.
To make the event both informative and entertaining, staff participated in a lively Kahoot! trivia game focused on heart health facts and tips. The trivia challenge sparked friendly competition and laughter as participants tested their knowledge while learning new ways to protect their hearts through better nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. A heart-healthy lunch and snacks were also provided, along with helpful informational flyers highlighting simple ways to improve heart health.
The event also featured exciting prizes for trivia winners. Congratulations to Evelyn Pacheco, who won a Mini Stepper for first place, Rosana La Fianza, who received a $50 Sprouts gift card for second place, and Caryn May, who took home a $25 Sprouts gift card for third place. The celebration continued with a raffle prize, where Matthew Mandegar won a state-of-the-art Walking Pad—perfect for staying active even during the workday.
The North Hollywood event set a wonderful tone for Heart Health Month and showcased the creativity of the Well-Being Committee. It was a fantastic reminder that learning about wellness can be both fun and empowering, and staff are already looking forward to more events in the future.
