Building Community, One Family at a Time: CFRC Opens This Month!

It’s finally here — our Community and Family Resource Center (CFRC) is opening its doors this month! Penny Lane Centers is thrilled to invite you to our CFRC Grand Opening and Thanksgiving Giveaway, happening in North Hills on November 24 and Antelope Valley on November 25. Come explore our new one-stop hub where families can connect with supportive services, attend workshops, and join in community activities. Enjoy this special day with us, meet our team, and receive a free Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings while supplies last — RSVP today at cfrc@pennylane.org!

As we gear up for our grand opening, the CFRC team has been out in the community spreading the word and building strong partnerships. From connecting with local families at Homeless Connect Day to supporting parents at the Mission City Community Network Halloween Event, to hosting a spirited staff lunch at our North Hills site, the CFRC has already been living its mission of compassion, connection, and community. These events highlight exactly what the CFRC stands for — meeting people where they are, providing meaningful support, and bringing hope to every corner of our community.

CFRC Program Joins Community Partners at Homeless Connect Day

Our CFRC team proudly participated in the Homeless Connect Day event at Roger Jessup Park in Pacoima, hosted by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez in collaboration with LA Family Housing, County Resources of Los Angeles, and local nonprofit partners. This one-day event brought together agencies from SPA 2 to provide free, one-stop services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness, including housing resources, legal assistance, documentation support, food, and clothing.

Our team engaged with community members to share information about Penny Lane’s CFRC program and the vital services we offer. One highlight of the day was a family experiencing homelessness winning a stroller in the raffle, a heartwarming reminder of the impact even small acts of support can have.  Events like these allow us to strengthen community partnerships and ensure that families in need are connected to meaningful resources and compassionate care.

CFRC Participates in Mission City Community Network Halloween Event

On October 24, 2025, our CFRC team attended the Mission City Community Network (MCCN) Halloween Event in North Hills, which brought together healthcare providers and community organizations to offer free health and social services to underserved and uninsured community members.

Our staff hosted a resource table to share information about the CFRC program and connect families with essential support services. During the event, our team met a single father who expressed needing a car seat for his 11-month-old child. Thanks to the resources available through our program, we were able to assist him the same day and provide the much-needed car seat. He will now be enrolled in our CFRC program, assigned a case manager, and continue receiving ongoing support.

Events like this highlight the power of collaboration and the importance of community partnerships in helping families access the resources they need to thrive.

Building Stronger Families. Strengthening Communities. Creating Hope.

Last Friday marked a powerful milestone for our new CFRC (Community & Family Resource Center) at Penny Lane North Hills! In partnership with Your Way Tree Service and with delicious support from Hibachi Valley, we hosted a special staff appreciation lunch—not just to share a meal, but to celebrate the launch of a program that will change lives.

The CFRC is designed to be a safe, welcoming hub where families can access resources, receive support, and connect to community. From parenting classes and wellness workshops to emergency support and empowerment programs—the CFRC is here to uplift those who need it most.

Today’s lunch was about more than great hibachi (though the food was a hit!). It was a moment to come together, honor our hardworking Penny Lane staff, and energize our team around the mission ahead: providing hope, healing, and real solutions to families in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Your Way Tree Service for their generous sponsorship and shared commitment to community well-being. Partnerships like this make our mission possible.

This is just the beginning. The CFRC is ready to open its doors to children, parents, caregivers, and neighbors—because when families thrive, entire communities rise.
