As we just celebrated Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the richness of culture, memory, and community. This vibrant tradition, rooted in Mexican heritage, honors loved ones who have passed while celebrating life with color, music, food, and shared stories.
At Penny Lane, we believe that celebrating each other — across cultures and experiences — strengthens our sense of community. By learning about traditions like Día de los Muertos, we deepen our understanding of one another and cultivate an environment where everyone feels seen, respected, and included.
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected in the way we honor and acknowledge these celebrations. Each story, altar, or symbol reminds us of the importance of remembering our shared humanity and the people who shape our lives.
Through collaboration, we can bring these celebrations to life in our workplace, sharing knowledge, participating in activities, and supporting one another in meaningful ways. Whether it’s creating a small altar, sharing stories, or learning about the symbolism behind the marigolds, sugar skulls, and papel picado, we strengthen the bonds that make our Penny Lane community vibrant and connected.
Día de los Muertos is not reserved only for people of Mexican heritage. We can all join in honoring those who have passed. Who did you remember that day? What stories did you tell? What picture did you place on your altar? Moments like this allow us to honor our differences, celebrate one another, and grow together as a supportive, inclusive community.
While we may come from different cultures, traditions like Día de los Muertos offer a beautiful reminder: we can honor our differences, celebrate one another, and grow together. Let’s embrace this moment to reflect, remember, and enjoy the richness of life together.
