The Antelope Valley TAY youth showed off their creativity, confidence, and community during an unforgettable Spring Madness Week this May!
We kicked things off with Game Day, rocking our favorite team gear and getting competitive with fun games and tournaments. On Tie-Dye Day, the room exploded with color as we turned plain shirts, socks, and bags into custom masterpieces.
Crazy Sock Day brought the laughs with everything from shark socks to Care Bears, plus face painting that let our personalities shine. Then we chilled out on Spa Day with movies, face masks, and self-care vibes all around.
We closed the week with a throwback to our emo roots on Goth/Emo Day, wearing all black, bold eyeliner, and jamming to classic hits.
Spring Madness was all about expression, connection, and fun—and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

On May 14, Penny Lane Centers’ Relative Services Programs proudly took part in the San Fernando Valley Resource Fair at Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch—a day dedicated to connection, collaboration, and community care. The event brought together Resource Parents, SPA 2 Children’s Social Workers, and a host of service providers for an engaging and impactful day.
Our team hosted a vibrant resource table, sharing valuable information about Penny Lane programs while building relationships with families and fellow professionals. With dozens of community agencies in attendance, the Fair was a one-stop shop for families seeking support, guidance, and tools to help children thrive—especially those in the foster care system.
Beyond sharing resources, our staff gained insight into other vital community services, strengthening our network and enhancing our ability to serve families through the Relative Services Programs. Attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch, fun raffle prizes, and an overall atmosphere of encouragement and unity.
The event served as a powerful reminder: when agencies come together with a shared mission, we can better support and uplift the children and families who need us most.

Sometimes, it takes a village—and in this case, a compassionate community—to change a life.
Recently, one of our permanent supportive housing residents found themselves in a heartbreaking situation. Due to personal challenges, they could no longer properly care for their cherished dog, Loki. Rather than surrender him to an overcrowded shelter, they made the incredibly tough decision to rehome him, hoping to find a safe and loving alternative.
That’s when the magic of teamwork kicked in.
I reached out to our Pet Committee, and the response was immediate and heartfelt. A special shout-out goes to Parichat Stout, who truly went above and beyond. Parichat not only connected with a rescue that specializes in emaciated and malnourished dogs—something Loki, unfortunately, fit the profile for—but also personally picked him up and delivered him to safety.
Thanks to her quick action and kindness, Loki is now in the care of a rescue organization where he’s on a steady feeding schedule and beginning to thrive. He’s gaining weight, getting stronger, and most importantly, he’s safe and loved.
Many of our supportive housing clients face challenges caring for their pets—animals that are often their primary source of comfort and emotional support. Our goal is always to keep pets and families together, as long as the animals are well treated.
If you're able, consider donating a bag of pet food the next time you shop for your own furry friends. Our Pet Committee will make sure it gets into the right hands (and paws). Every small act of kindness can lead to a big difference—just ask Loki.
Thank you for being part of a community that truly cares.

This May, the AV team came together for a series of vibrant events that highlighted the spirit of culture, wellness, and creativity in the workplace. These gatherings were more than just fun—they were moments that brought us closer as a team.
On May 5th, the office transformed into a colorful celebration for Cinco de Mayo! Staff enjoyed a delicious lunch with tacos, rice, beans, horchata, and all the tasty extras—complete with lime, Tapatío, and Mexican candies. Laughter echoed through the room as the festivities wrapped up with a piñata surprise, offering a sweet (and hilarious) way to close out the celebration. It was a joyful way to honor culture while sharing great food and even better company.
On May 28th, 25 staff members took a mindful break from the hustle with a hands-on crystal experience. Team members selected, dug, cleaned, and polished their very own crystals—each one a unique keepsake to take home. The event offered a peaceful pause in the day, helping everyone reconnect with themselves and recharge. It was a refreshing reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated—it can start with a simple moment of intention and creativity.
From tasty traditions to tranquil experiences, May in AV was a beautiful blend of celebration, self-care, and community spirit. We’re grateful to everyone who made these events meaningful—and we can’t wait to keep the good vibes going all year long!
