We are thrilled to celebrate a truly special milestone for one of our own—Kat Killoran, longtime Penny Lane supporter, former client, current Board Member, and now the proud founder and CEO of Purrrlandia Cat Lounge & Cafe in Thousand Oaks. On June 24th, Kat officially opened the doors to this meowgical new space, where rescue cats, coffee, and community come together to change lives. And we couldn’t be prouder.
Purrrlandia is more than just a cat café—it’s a purpose-driven haven created with deep intention. With its thoughtfully designed lounge, adoptable rescue cats from Best Friends Animal Society, and cozy café vibes, Purrrlandia invites guests to unwind, connect, and experience the joy of feline companionship. But at the heart of it all is Kat’s personal journey—one shaped by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to creating safe spaces for healing.
Kat’s connection to Penny Lane runs deep. Having once navigated the foster care system with support from our programs, she’s since returned to Penny Lane not only as an advocate, but as a board member helping shape our mission and work. Her story is a powerful example of what’s possible when individuals are met with support, encouragement, and opportunity. Now, through Purrrlandia, Kat is paying that love forward—offering a nurturing space not just for cats, but for people too.
As she shared in her launch announcement, “We’re here to create real bonds—not impulse adoptions. When cats feel safe and guests feel welcomed, that’s when the magic happens.”
