A Fresh Start in North Hills: The Padin Building Remodel Unveils a Stunning New Conference Space

September 3, 2025

Big Things Are Happening in North Hills!

After two years of careful planning, design, and construction, the Padin building has been completely transformed—and at the heart of it all is a conference room that is ready to bring our community together like never before.

This project has been a true labor of love, with our facilities and IT teams partnering closely with architects and contractors to dream up a space that would both honor our past and prepare us for the future. As many of you know, the beloved Rainbow Room was demolished last December, along with the adjacent school building, to make way for a new permanent housing project. Out of that transition came an opportunity: to create a state-of-the-art meeting space that would allow us to gather, collaborate, and inspire one another.

The results are nothing short of incredible. The new Padin conference room boasts cutting-edge audio/visual equipment, crisp soundproofing, and skylights that flood the room with natural light. It’s a space designed not just for meetings, but for connection and creativity. Picture this: up to 89 people gathered together, learning, growing, and celebrating our shared mission—all under one beautifully remodeled roof.

But the upgrades don’t stop there. The surrounding areas of the building will serve as a hub for our facilities management staff, with organized storage for cleaning and maintenance supplies, inventory for RHAS/RSS purchases, and even donations for Baby2Baby. Plans are already underway to implement a streamlined tracking system so every supply and donation can be used as effectively as possible, maximizing the impact of the resources we receive.

This remodel is more than just a facelift—it’s a fresh start, a reminder that even as our needs evolve, our commitment to community remains the same. We are so grateful to Claudio Maluje, Matthew Mandegar, Phillip Mix, Lily Esparza, Solrac Design Architects, and WCS Construction for their dedication to bringing this vision to life.

If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to stop by the Padin building next time you’re in North Hills. Trust us—you’ll want to step inside, look up at those skylights, and feel the energy of a space that’s ready to host the next chapter of our work together.
