On Tuesday, July 12, Penny Lane Centers and Huntington Hospital partnered together to facilitate a Mobile Blood Drive. We were very happy to have the hospital back at PLC because we understand the value and importance of blood donations. As the Blood Mobile arrived so too did our donors. Our Penny Lane staff showed up to give the most precious of gifts, the Gift of Life.
When reaching out to Ida Diaz, who is the donor recruiter for the hospital, she shared the following.
“Yes, indeed we are living in some very frightening and challenging times, in so many ways. Donating blood is a very easy, safe, and most importantly self-rewarding way of helping our fellow man. When we are healthy it’s easy to help someone else, and our own body will very quickly replenish the pint that was given away to help save someone else. Depending on the donor’s blood type, 2 or 3 lives may be saved."
I absolutely agree with Ida that theses are challenging times. So often we feel helpless about the situations that are occurring. Many of us look for ways to help. We donate money, our time and yes, our blood. When we donate, we are doing something for our communities, but also for ourselves because we are making a difference and no longer need feel helpless.
We would like to thank Huntington Hospital for helping us to make a difference in our community. Their staff was friendly and compassionate and reflected the Penny Lane values: Commitment, Collaboration, Community. We would also like to thank them for the delicious Starbucks and In-N-Out gift cards provided to each donor. Check out some of the photos from the event below!

Here at Intensive Services North Hills, we don’t have to look far to find something to celebrate. We regularly look for ways to celebrate successes, birthdays, baby showers, holidays and look forward to continuing to do so depending on our Back to Work policies that are reflective of the current Covid situation. Naturally, when we heard that we were going to be moving from our former offices in the Padin Building to the West Side of the Rose Jenkins Clinic Building (RJC) we knew we had to plan a “Grand Re-Opening.”
A huge shoutout goes to David Bright and Eloisa Martinez for helping us decorate the offices and cubicles in preparation for the rest of the squad to come through. When the staff arrived to our “Grand Re-Opening,” we did a few tours of the new space, some of them plugged in and got a chance to work from the cubicles. Everyone seemed happy to see each other again, started catching up, and even took advantage of the time to have consult about a client or two. Overall, it was fun time for all of us to gather in the new space for the first time and warm up to the thought of coming back to work from the office once again.
