Our quarterly video podcast: “Wine with Wendy.” Our CEO; Wendy Carpenter each quarter will be spending time with someone of significance to Penny Lane and our mission. As we like to be innovative here at Penny Lane we thought this was a fun way for you to get to know our vision moving forward in a relaxed setting over a few glasses of wine with our special guests.
For our Summer edition we came up to our Lancaster Family Center to chat with Jennifer Lane and Catherine Houghton about Adoption. So grab your choice of wine, pour yourself a glass and check it out!
In addition to our quarterly video podcast, Wendy also had the opportunity to sit down with Patricia Costales, the CEO of The Guidance Center.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with a dear friend and the CEO of The Guidance Center, Patricia Costales. In this very candid conversation we discuss the impact our services have on youth that are placed in the foster care system. As leaders who serve and support this very vulnerable population, it is imperative to take a critical look at how we’re doing. Is foster care the best choice with our impacted families? Is there a built-in economic or racial bias or disadvantage? Can we as a system find new and innovative ways to engage our youth and families? As leaders in nonprofits how can we provide openhearted services?
These are just a few of the topics that we touch on in this hour long conversation.
I highly recommend following Tricia’s podcast series named "In My Backyard". The Guidance Center is a children’s mental health agency in Long Beach and "In My Backyard" was started by The Guidance Center during the height of the pandemic as a way of bringing communities closer together.
Enjoy!
