In this month’s promotional employee spotlight, allow us to introduce to you Marie E. Rodriguez, Human Resources Benefits Administrator, working at our North Hollywood location.
Marie started at Penny Lane in June of 2021 as a Human Resources Administrative Assistant. In the year and a half since she has started, her interest in all things Human Resources and her ambition and tenacity led her to be promoted to HR Benefits Administrator effective January 1, 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Lutheran University.
Prior to attaining my first position with Penny Lane, I was a first-generation college student at California Lutheran University. I graduated in 2020, and as some of you may recall, the job market was very rough at that time. So, I job hunted for one full year before acquiring employment with Penny Lane! As my former supervisor put it, “I was waiting for Penny Lane!” Timing is everything!
I’ve always wanted to work for a non-profit organization! It is important to me that I work for an ethical, diverse, and generous organization, and I found all these aspects in Penny Lane. I wanted to find a way to connect my interest in HR/business to my beliefs and morals and working for Penny Lane’s HR department has done just that for me! It’s a win-win!
The people! I am so grateful that everyone at PLC has had so much patience and grace with me.
The path to promotion came a bit quickly for me, which I am grateful for! Again, timing is everything! The position became available, and my name was mentioned! It was so flattering to know that my colleagues think highly enough of me to mention my name when opportunities arise!
My PLC team (the HR Department) has been incredibly helpful!! Everyone is always so open and willing to help! I have the best team! Their openness, patience, and guidance are what get me through every workday!
I am interested in pursuing an HR certification with the help of the education reimbursement program here at PLC!
I am the new Benefits Administrator! I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered this role yet, but I think my willingness to learn and personable attitude have assisted me in further developing the skills and knowledge necessary for this role.
I tend to really enjoy heights! Hot air balloon rides, airplane rides, helicopter rides, cliff jumping, biking the golden gate bridge, zip lining, roller coasters- you name it!
Being my mother’s caretaker. My compassion, organization skills, patience, and empathy are constantly improving because of it.
My fellow bookworms may recognize these gems from The Four Agreements written by Don Miguel Ruiz. Give it a read if you haven’t already!
Again, the people! Everyone at PLC is awesome! Always so sweet and understanding! I appreciate kind people in general.
So many things!!! Where do I begin? I am extremely grateful for this promotion, for my wonderful colleagues, my health, my happiness, and my beautiful family!
