There is a time for everything. We celebrate each time, when a child is placed in a safe nurturing home. We cry as we hear the sad stories and the reasons why children are placed with foster or adoptive families. We feel joy when children are reunited with their biological parents or a child finds an adoptive parent, a youth emancipates with a sense of identity, attends college and has a place to call home. When all of these happen, we are reminded that for many of our children and their families foster family care works.
There is time for everything here in Penny Lane. This year so far we have cared for more than 500 children and we have offered these children a safe nurturing place to live, and embraced them with an array of services.

In January, Penny Lane Adoption program “was launched” and we are celebrating all eleven of them as our adopting families.
In April, we celebrated the opening of our Commerce Office and in May the Family Center in North Hills. During the summer, our annual Picnic was a success. Parents, children and staff enjoyed our first "family Olympics". Children competed in different sports events and many were very proud to be honored with a gold, silver, or bronze medal. There was a lot of fun at the Penny Lane Staff Volleyball match, and many of us participated in the dance contest. In August with foster parents and Penny Lane staff we honored the high school graduate, and the Casey Biggs Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to one of our great students, who made it to Mount St. Mary's College. September was time for back to school, and we are all very excited for the incredible support from the Title 1 program; we have two well equipped learning labs, in North Hills and Palmdale, for the use of our children and parents, and 70 % of our children are receiving tutoring services. October is college preparation month, and some of our High School seniors are going to participate in: “Destination: College 8” sponsored by United Friends of the Children,

“Go for College”! Sponsored by Los Angeles Mentoring Partnership and SAT preparation courses at the Sylvan Learning Center sponsored by Title 1.
Wow! I can view through my periscope “a great job done”. At times the horizon gets foggy, but our destination is clear. Everyone aboard is great and we are all working to achieve the same outcome for our children’s safety, well-being and permanency.
With trust, determination, patience and persistence we are ready to navigate through our communities in our “Yellow submarine”. I hope everyone enjoys the ride!
In Penny Lane there is always a time for every thing, we work hard, we cry, feel sad, have joy and we always make sure that there is time for gratitude and celebration.
