Penny Lane Centers was honored with the presence of the First Lady of California,
Maria Shriver and Award winning Producer Sandy Gleysteen on June 10, 2008. Mrs.
Shriver sat down with the residents in our main facility and learned about the past
experiences of our children. During this conversation she announced that our Ivelise
Markovits, Founder of Penny Lane, has been nominated for the prestigious Minerva
Awards. Past Minerva Awards recipients have made extraordinary contributions to
California in the arts, health and sciences, community activism, business and
technology, motherhood, innovation, education and lifetime
achievement.
Mrs. Shriver and Ms. Gleysteen took a tour of our North Hills Facility and
were able to see first hand the good work done by Penny Lane staff.
